Is it true that you shouldn't use moisturizer around your eyes, only eye cream?

I recently heard that because the skin is different, using moisturizer can actually accentuate fine lines. I always use both eye cream and moisturizer. Is it true that you shouldn't use moisturizer around your eyes, only eye cream?
I don't think it's damaging to the tissue, but it may be too harsh for your eyes themselves if it were to get in them. A lot of companies don't have their products ophthalmologist-tested, so tell you not to use them on the eyes.

What I have read is that the molecules in the face creams aren't appropriate for the pores on the eyes- that they are too large to penetrate the skin appropriately. Also, keep in mind that the moisturization needs are different for both areas- you may need a light moisturizer/hydrator on your face but a bit more help around the eye area.

So, use an eye-specific product around the eyes. :)Is it true that you shouldn't use moisturizer around your eyes, only eye cream?
It not only accentuates the fine lines it damages your lines...as this skin around your eyes is thinner than anywhere on your outer body. Most products will tell you not to use around the eyes.
Any moisturiser is better than nothing. Some advertising agencies will write anything to sway the buying public.

NOTHING can stop wrinkles!!!! NOTHING.
yes its true the skin is more sensitive here and normal moisturiser will be too harsh, your best bet would be to ask at a make up counter (or the body shop are usually quite good) where they will show you where and how to apply eye cream and possibly recommend one that suits your age range and skin type,
i've always just put moisturiser allover my face.. i never thought about my eyes but its never affected me

Here's a tip for you too!

if you put moisturiser under your chin and on your neck it's suppose to stop signs on ageing

hope i was help =)
I use moisturizers all over... ESPECIALLY around my eyes and it's helped soften the ';crows feet'; wrinkles. I also use preparation H.... yea you read correctly! lol... on the puffy bags and it works there too... they're almost all gone!!! NO bad side effects from any of them... and I'm in my 50's.
That's what I heard. The girls at the make up counter told me that using moisturizer can actually cause dark circles. Eeek!
Completely, not true. Actually you should be using a moisturizer instead of cream. Think about someone with oilier skin, lets just take asian people for example, they have GREAT skin. And they look a lot younger too because of it, they never have wrinkles or any signs of aging. So the oilier your skin, the younger the look. So if your trying to get rid of or prevent wrinkle, you would use something with some oil in it, right??? However, if your put it around your eyes, it might just irritate them. So just be careful of what your using. Don't use anything with any type of dye or smell to it. That just means that they add alcohol, so look for something that is clear or even white
yeah use eye cream.

many moisturizers say not to use around eyes.
